The Colonial House was designed by architect Leland A. Bryant and constructed between 1930-1931 as a luxury apartment building. The seven-story structure originally contained 24 apartments, later converted to 21 condominiums.
The building exemplifies French Colonial Revival architecture through its low-pitched roof topping a high-rise brick structure. Recessed casement windows with shutters reference French provincial design, while the central courtyard features landscaping, a water fountain, ceramic urns, and wrought iron balconies that create a private garden retreat. The main entrance is accessed through an elegant entry defined by decorative elements. Interior spaces showcase arched hallways, French windows, hand-carved wood moldings, and vaulted ceilings reaching 10 feet in select units. Custom built-in cabinets and wrought iron details appear throughout the building. Amenities include a swimming pool, doorman service, gardens, and library facilities.
